Love to plan parties, but hate to spend hours decorating? Today I am showing a super simple and really fun way you can add some cute to your next dessert table by using just some of the fabulous Dear Lizzy line by American Crafts I was given to check out.
Just what does the Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic Line (available at Joann Fabric and Crafts) include?
Tons of fabulous papers, glitter and sticky tapes, whimsical brads and embellishments, and some gorgeous letter stickers! I can’t get enough. In fact, this craft was incredibly hard to make because I didn’t want to cut anything up! (wow… my hoarding tendencies are taking over).
The best part about them is the lovely spring color palate! I love spring, and when I get in a fun spring mood I can’t help but think of parties! Both my birthday and my baby girl’s birthday is in spring, so I had to make something fun to decorate for a party.
To start, lets make an amazingly simple Cake plate banner.
Cut a strip of paper. I used a lovely teal- one of my favorite colors!
Then, I freehand cut out some triangle shapes to give my banner a fun and funky trim.
I then rolled the sides around a pencil to give it shape. Lightly tug the ends downward as you roll them- it will give a lovely look.
You can then add any word you like to your little banner- I chose a simple “Cake”, but anything would be great! Don’t you just love those gold stickers? They are chunky and fat and GLITTERED! Can’t get enough.
I then affixed the banner to my cake plate with an adhesive dot on each side.
I then started work on my pinwheels. I picked a fabulous paper with gray dots on one side and a soft blue on the other.
I folded it in half, then again. I cut down the lines to make four squares.
Then I folded each square in half, and again to make 16 squares.
Then, I folded those squares in half, diagonally. I cut in 3/4 way down each fold line (don’t but all the way or you will just have more squares…), and glued the right side of each new partial square into the center of the pinwheel.
I secured it with glue dots, and then poked a brad through in the center to be sure it was tight.
Using decorative tape across the back, I secured it onto a wooden skewer and popped them in some cupcakes. Totally easy!
How great is that?
You’ll see a few more projects coming up with these pretty papers and tools from American Crafts and the Dear Lizzy line…. I just can’t get enough!
If you love these supplies as much as I do then you need to hurry to your local JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores to find them!
