We had some friends in town recently, and I am a bit ashamed to say I slacked on planning a little dinner for them to come and visit and meet Baby B – so I headed to Walmart to grab some easy and delicious treats for an impromptu pizza and ice cream party to welcome our friends to town!
The selection of drumsticks was fantastic. I hadn’t had them recently- who knew there were so many flavors?! I went a bit wild and bought up a bunch of boxes.
The Tombstone selection wasn’t as wonderful- they had some awesome new products I hadn’t seen yet (garlic bread crust, yum!), but all of the pizzas were either pepperoni or sausage- no veggie or plain cheese. I grabbed a bunch of them, but I did have to buy another brand for my little man’s plain cheese pizza. He is a bit too little for pepperoni still (its a touch too spicy for him).
Overall, Walmart had a lot of easy choices to grab and go, and get the party started quickly! You can see more from my trip here!
Talk about some easy and delicious ways to throw an impromptu party- just toss in the freezer, heat the pizza, and serve! It allowed me to spend a few minutes setting up some fun decorations to make the evening a little more fun.
I wanted to make a cute way to display the drumsticks, and I have seen Milk Glass everywhere lately. So I decided to make my own with some cheap plastic margarita glasses I found in the paper plates section I found at Walmart.
I think they made the ice cream display look great- and it only cost $3!
Here’s how I did it:
Assemble plastic glasses (they usually are packaged with the bases not assembled to save space)
Spray paint white- be sure to coat inside AND outside. I found two coats worked best to avoid dripping. Don’t spray to heavily, or you will get drips. Let dry for at least three hours in between sprayings- and until glasses are completely dry and have NO spray paint smell (about a day) before serving food in them.
I LOVE how cute the drumsticks looked in these! I will be using them a lot in the future for fun food displays!
Then, I covered a side table with some spare dropcloths we had (I recently recovered my couch with canvas dropcloths), and hung some pom-poms and a fun felt star banner. It was a nice touch for an impromptu, casual summer party!
The party was a big hit, and everyone loved munching on delicious pizza and drumsticks. Thanks, Walmart, for making it easy to #grabsummerfun !
