I love the What I Wore Wednesday posts- but usually, I would have nothing to contribute, unless you all want to see me in yoga pants and stretchy maternity shirts, sweatshirts, or my super soft Vail tee I wear, like, everyday.
My hubby’s work is having a fancy dinner tonight at one of our favorite restaurants of all time, Chimney Park, in Windsor, CO. If you are ever in Northern Colorado and looking for a five star worthy meal, at more reasonable prices, you need to go there ASAP. And if you think Windsor is too far to drive for a great night… you’re mistaken! I consistently have fabulous meals there! (I am a bit bummed that I don’t get to partake in fois gras tonight… the whole no liver while pregnant thing…)
Anyways, back to the outfit. I don’t fit into my maternity clothes from my last pregnancy (thank you paleo diet before this one!!!!), though I will soon- so I was a bit stumped for something nice to wear. I found a White House Black Market black satin tunic waaaay in the back of my closet from my skinny single days (we’re talking ’05 or ’06 here), and figured, it is stretchy, it’s worth a shot. And guess what? It fit wonderfully! (Well, as a long top over black pants. Certain, um, “assets” have filled out the top, as does the bump, so leggings were out- if I sneezed, my butt would be out). I wore tan pumps to match my champagne colored ranunculus in my hair.
I threw on a chunky turquoise and gold bead necklace from Ann Taylor that I have worn a total of five or six times (again, this is from my working as a lobbyist, pre-pregnancy days), and threw my hair in a sock-bun, slightly off to the side. I took a champagne ranunculus from my ring pillow stash, and tossed it in aside the bun.
What do you think? Maybe the hubs will get the message and give me more things to dress up for!!!
(Sorry for the poor shot- I am NOT good at the self-photo. This was about my only in-focus one, and I even had to search for a clean mirror, I am afraid to admit).
What is your favorite “going out” or fancy maternity go-to?
